Match making...

When you decide to get married it’s important to personalize this special affair so that your guests experience a reflection of your own unique interests, personality and the specific characteristics that tell you apart from any other couple. It needs to be seen, sensed and tasted in every intricate part, from your gorgeous gown and décor pieces, right down to every canapé and cup cake.

Classical, minimalist, bold and whimsical, we’ve seen it all, but today we mix together 4 very different weddings and challenge you to the task of pairing up each distinctive boutonnière with its matching wedding cake or dessert and décor piece.

Glamour in glass...

With any outdoor wedding, you’re likely to expect a massive, white Bedouin or Moroccan tent; however Eleanor and Lee had something different in mind when they decided to get married at Dock House Boutique Hotel, opposite the renowned V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

With fewer than 40 guests the emphasis was on close family and friends celebrating the day in luxuriant contemporary style and comfort. The reception was held in an impressive glass house with striking crystal chandeliers and a long table running down the middle. Several tall, glass vases were placed on top of light boxes and filled with a luscious arrangement of crisp, white roses which helped carry the theme through beautifully.

Karla Oettler from Absolute Weddings co-ordinated the wedding and Ryan Graham was the official photographer. To see more stunning pictures of their wedding... click here!

pretty peonie

Every year we fall head over heals in love with peonies. Bolder than lisianthus and more romantic than roses, peonies leave a sweet after taste and lasting impression. If you do get married in November, you might be fortunate enough to boast with these bashful Victorian beauties at your wedding. You can make your pick from the softest shades of candyfloss pink to a saturated hot pink or even keep it simple and fresh with white. They add a delicate touch of femininity to your bridal bouquet or table centre pieces. Unfortunately they only bloom for 30 days each year, so to those of you who weren't so lucky to catch them on time... we hope these pics cheer you up!

Abracadabra !

Allee Bleue is definitely one of our preferred wedding venues to work at, so when Elmien van der Merwe & Andrew Davidson decided to tie the knot outside, they were surrounded by the beautiful lavender fields, which immediately set the stage for a royal reception that reinforced the colour combination of distinctive grey-silver, white and tones of purple in palettes worthy of a painter.

We teamed up with Karla Oettler from Absolute weddings which meant that inspiration was flowing abundantly as we selected the exact elements that will compliment not only the architecture of Allee Bleue, but at the same time bring soft elegance to the table décor.
In short, the aim was: “Appropriately modern yet classic, with an element of fun…”

Truly a magical combination that never loses its ability to cast a stylish spell, especially at a venue like Allee Bleue, and thanks to
Joe Dreyer, we’ve got the pictures to prove it …

Sea shells on the seashore…

For an instant sizzling seasonal wedding bash, why not head to the beach and celebrate with nothing but summer air and nature surrounding you and your closest family and friends. To fully appreciate our scenic country and compliment the beautiful indigenous flowers & fynbos it has to offer, make sure you keep your décor fresh and fuss-free by combining glass with different textures like we did with Martha & Bennie’s wedding at Strandkombuis, Yzerfontein earlier this year. Christine Meintjes took some striking pictures and while on the subject of summer and sea, have a peek at her latest wedding pictures she took in Durban – it’s stunning!

Simply Asian

It’s never an easy task to define a person’s style, but it’s always refreshing to incorporate our client’s innovative & different ideas into a stunning event. When Barbara Forrest & Warwick Dawes, currently living in Hong Kong, approached us to do their wedding at Vrede & Lust on the 9th of October, we designed a layout that reflects the minimalist, yet striking approach often synonymous with an Asian flair, while still keeping their respective Scottish and South-African backgrounds in mind. This resulted in ruby red tables boasting big, dramatic table arrangements with beautiful menu’s and guest favours, all adhering to elegance with an Asian twist!

What a pleasant reminder for us here at Leipzig that originality & vigour is key to keep us on our toes!

Hip Hip Hooray!

We celebrated Izette’s birthday on the 20th of September with a weekend of fun packed activities which included a cooking class on the Friday evening in Somerset West. We learned a thing or two about preparing mouth-watering cuisine plus how to wolf down a 7 course meal in just a few hours!
With birthday fever running high in her family, it was also her daughter, Elsjé’s turn (born last year on the 19th of September) to enjoy her first “Happy Feet” birthday party! The theme was actually chosen by one of her “birthday guests” who noticed the adorable (and delicious) penguin cupcakes. He stated in raptures to his mother “look there’s Happy Feet!”

Two BIG Hooray’s for Izette and Elsjé!

"...It's a boy!"

With a demanding season lying ahead, we’re welcoming a new member to the Leipzig family.
Neil Jordaan will be taking charge of the logistical aspects and lend a helping hand at our various weddings & functions. Unfortunately Neil just missed our “funky-floral photo shoot” but he doesn’t seem too unhappy about it… so this is a CHEERFUL WELCOME to Neil from all the girls here at Leipzig!

Something sweet...

Lize Marie Daneel & Tim Lake – 20 September

The day was once again blessed with sunny skies. Vrede & Lust provided the ideal backdrop for a ceremony outside and the reception was picture perfect, painted in crisp white, plum & cerise pink shades. Think hat boxes, draped in rich material, overflowing with fresh, fragrant flowers, a mouth-watering 4-tier wedding cake…and a table dedicated to satisfy any sweet tooth. Truly, this was the wedding of every girl's dreams!

The wedding cake was made by Wades Cakes and we can't wait to see the pictures from Jean Pierre Uys, the official photographer of the evening. In the meantime, have a look at some of our own pictures we took while setting up...

...so here it is!

Our eagerly awaited pictures from Christine…brought together in a beautiful collage. We had tons of fun while shooting this and even Anuk, in charge of security here at Leipzig, gleamed in front of the lenses. She seems to be building quite a fan base for her “unique look”!

"...chin up, shoulders back and smile – it’s Spring”

Spring marks the beginning of a new and prosperous season.

For us at Leipzig it’s not only associated with a series of pastel pretty weddings, but it also marks the awakening of our updated website & blossoming blog.
We decided to celebrate our enthusiasm for spring flowers by welcoming our close friend and exceptional photographer, Christine Meintjes to our studio for a fun & fanciful shoot. Karla Oettler, from Absolute Weddings took to the part of make-up artist... and our hair?
Well, lets just say ...watch this space!
