Colour boost...

We have had some stunning weather this week, very peculiar for a usually grey, wet Cape region with gushing winds and pouring rain. Vibrant colours just seem to be in place for a day like today. Remember that some of the most colourful flowers are in season during the winter, so even if it’s not your birthday or anniversary buy yourself a bunch of bright coloured tulips, poppies or daisies for a hearty color boost and an unconventional weekend treat that won’t hoard on your hips…

Eco Ideas

We sometimes meet a “green” couple who envision an environmentally-friendly affair and hence, to recognize and appreciate that every small contribution helps, we’ve used herbs and plants as a table centre piece at weddings on numerous occasions. Not only is it a refreshing visual alternative, but also a useful guest favor that can be invested back into your garden as a reminder of that cherished day… For more tips on a eco- friendly weddings and some stunning "green" stationary samples, make sure you visit Bella Figura!

"Bonbons..."

It’s Friday and working 24/7 with quotes and décor images, you sometimes reach a point where you feel like screaming when you see another flower or furnishing. So, to do some exploring outside our line of expertise, we focus on the enjoyment and pleasure of good food but to be more specific… cakes, pastries, trays of cup cakes and all sorts of chewy, sugary delights. Not only a welcome replacement for guest favours but these childhood delights become master pieces that compliment the décor and flowers as well!!
Have a happy happy weekend!

Jetsetters...

Because we will not get very far through customs with our garden scissors, glue guns and fresh cut flowers, we like to experience life through the lenses of our some of our favourite photographers who all seem to be travelling the world during the winter months.

Christine Meintjies’ exhilarating trip to Paris, France and Lisbon, Portugal

Lizelle Lotter’s latest wedding shoot in Camp Kwando, Namibia.

Pro Photography, where Sybrand shot the “Westlife Wedding” in Barbados.

Zara Zoo’s trip to Thailand and

Okey so maybe we are just a little bit jealous...

Wake up call

Our sincere apologies for our absence on the blog scene the past month! At the end of a very busy season, we are thankful for the long awaited winter that has arrived. We are without a doubt the only people in the Cape that welcomes the winter, knowing that it holds the promise of a rare scarcity in our industry…weekends at home! Time to unwind and relax with loved ones in front of a crackling fire. We at Leipzig love winter and the serenity that it brings, offering us much appreciated time to recharge our batteries for the busy season that lies ahead.

With that said, we would love to share some of our latest creations showcased at weddings in & around the Cape Winelands during the past few months. Watch this space as we reveal new floral inspirations during the next few weeks…

Daringly different

Elouise Opperman en Johann Brink’s wedding held on the 28th of March at Roodezandt was definitely one of our favourites. Not only because it was an outstandinly elegant affair, but also because everything about the day was distinctive. From the colour scheme being a combination of black, white & teal; to the detail on the stationary and the couple's choice of venue. Providentially the pictures speak for themselves...

An evening of elegance

Nestled in the magnificent mountain range of Franschhoek, Allee Bleue offers not only a spectacular scenic backdrop and an acclaimed team of chefs to cater to your every need; the striking simplicity of the venue allows you to play around without any restrictions what so ever. To create the magical evening that Caitlynne & Shaun had in mind, we constructed timeless & classic table centre pieces which were built around the idea of using to a two colour palette only. The ambience was fresh and fashionable with heaps of soft candle light. Ryan Graham was the official photographer and captured this evening of elegance into beautiful memories.

A taste of winter…

We have to admit that the weather has caught us off-guard! We’re scurrying around the icy studio with blankets wrapped around our hips while preparing for this weekend’s weddings. Even though the temperature is certain to soar again soon, which is the typical see-saw climate associated with March month, we decided that Ilke van Vollenhoven’s reception décor will provide the perfect “winter wedding teaser” for this week…

It was a homey feast held at Rickety Bridge Winery where we utilized the venue’s dark wooden interior, to create a balmy farm feel. A variety of wooden - & bark baskets were combined with glass and mesh wire containers and filled with flowers in distinctive tones of tangerine, pale gold and brown. We combined the flowers with interesting seasonal berries, pebbles and beads for added character. The overall effect was reminiscent to a cosy wooden cabin, with a smouldering fireplace tucked away in the misty mountains of Austria.

Turn your wedding inside out by bringing the outside in…

Living in Dubai, Sheena Lee and Adrian's wedding was an intimate celebration with only the closest family and friends attending. They were eager to take advantage of South Africa’s scenic mountains, vineyards and surroundings as a backdrop and so it came as no surprise that the ceremony and reception was to be held outside at Franschhoek Country House and Villa’s. The look and feel of the occasion was to be natural, fresh and simple. We incorporated soft sage green “mock-silk” table linen to add more greenery and elegance to the surroundings and informally arranged the tables with alternating cream and pottery containers which were filled with a selection of “garden” flowers like lavender, white roses, lisianthus and some dodder. Three thumbs up Sheena Lee for going green! Pictures taken by Kate from Storybook Photography.

New beginnings...

No doubt that with the New Year we all have the urge to turn a new page and begin afresh with a list of resolutions. If you are planning your wedding during this time, you will most probably be searching for new and inspiring ideas, so once you have identified your desired theme & style, try to think out of the box to incorporate these elements in the smaller detail as well.

Strings of ribbon in your colour scheme can be a striking alternative for fairy lights and a post card for each guest rather than a guest book, adds a personal touch. Traditional name cards can be replaced with a personalized broach which guests can wear during the evening and it surely eases the effort of remembering everyone’s name. Why not make a stop at
tin town and devise their creations into an interesting boutonnière or corsage? Titivate with chilli’s or treats and a tea cup can make a beautiful container for delicate flowers.
The sky is the limit once you start to unleash your mind… so see where takes you
and make sure you have fun along the way.
